Life Transitions

Life is constant change, as much as this hurts sometimes.

You need a therapist who will be by your side as you grieve “what was” and enter into a new normal.

We consider a difficult life transition to be anything from a “tangible” loss such as death of a loved one, to an “intangible” loss such as grieving who you once were before you became a mother.  These are just examples – there are so many transitions throughout life that can bring about so many different feelings.  You are not alone!

Maybe your life has been touched by a major event such as a death, divorce or an unexpected job change.  The emotional fallout can be so rough – and we aren’t always equipped to deal with it alone.

Life transitions, even the positive ones, can throw us into a tailspin and leave us feeling stressed, confused and vulnerable. But with the right tools and mindset, you have the power to not only overcome any adversity but also transform into a more authentic and confident version of yourself.

Instead of viewing change as awful, we encourage you to view it as a new opportunity – one in which to grow, think about the world differently, find new opportunities, of course taking time to grieve your loss appropriately. With each new challenge in life, we develop new personal skills and obtain a greater awareness of ourselves.

Some of the most common life transitions we help clients navigate are:

  • Moving away to college
  • Adjusting to university life or your first professional job
  • Getting married
  • Having a new baby
  • Parenting
  • Empty nesting syndrome
  • Breakup, separation or divorce
  • Infidelity recovery
  • Retirement
  • Job loss or major change in career
  • Relocation
  • Financial gain/loss
  • Serious illness or disability
  • Issues pertaining to aging
  • Death of a loved one
  • Questioning the meaning of life
  • Questioning your faith/spirituality
  • Questioning your sexual/gender identity

We would be honored to help you navigate this difficult time in your life.
