Tracy Presser, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor in IL

I know life can feel overwhelming at times, and I’m here to create a space where you can feel truly heard—no judgment, just real, honest conversation. With empathy, authenticity, and a little bit of humor, we’ll dive into the tough topics, uncover patterns, and build tools for meaningful change. Whether you’re working on personal growth or strengthening your relationship, I’ll offer fresh perspectives and practical strategies to help you make confident decisions that align with your values and lead to a more fulfilling, authentic life.

I see clients Monday through Friday in person at our Lincoln Park office and online across Illinois.

What it’s like to work with me…

I'm deeply passionate about guiding clients through life’s challenges with intention and insight.

In our sessions, you can expect warmth, honesty, and direct yet gentle feedback as we explore challenging topics and uncover recurring patterns in your life. I believe that understanding your emotions is key to creating meaningful change, and I’m here to help you connect the dots and see the bigger picture. Together, we’ll practice tools that nurture your well-being, offering fresh perspectives on your concerns and helping you approach them from new angles. My aim is to create a safe and supportive space where you feel empowered to make lasting changes that align with your values.

I’m particularly passionate about working with couples seeking to rebuild trust, strengthen communication, or navigate conflict, as well as women grappling with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges—especially during major life transitions. My approach is client-centered and rooted in a psychodynamic lens, while integrating evidence-based techniques like CBT to reframe thought patterns and the Gottman Method to foster healthier relationships. I’m truly honored to be a part of your journey and can’t wait to support you every step of the way!

Background & Experience

  • My path to becoming a therapist began with volunteering and working  in the nonprofit sector. My experience prior to group practices includes supporting families and children learning to cope more effectively with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties in a variety of settings. These experiences have influenced my approach and solidified my commitment to fighting the stigma around mental health issues.

  • My educational journey began at Ohio University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies. I then went on to receive my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Edinboro University.

Committed to ongoing learning, I have also completed specialized training in the Gottman Method, including Level 1 Couples Therapy and Treating Affairs and Trauma, enhancing my ability to support couples in building stronger, more resilient relationships. As a member of the American Counseling Association, I stay engaged with the latest research and best practices to ensure I provide informed, effective care to my clients.

  • I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Outside of Work

When I'm not in session supporting clients, I enjoy reading (psychological thrillers are my go-to), watching reality tv, and trying new restaurants around the city. I’m also a big fan of lakefront walks where I can find some peace in life’s chaos.
